When a first responder experiences a difficult situation, 5 tips can be done to help them such:

 

  1. Allow them to go through the stages of grief
  2. It's essential to give them the time and space
  3. It's essential to take care of your mental wellness 
  4. Ask open-ended questions without expecting an answer
  5. It's essential to learn to process emotions and share your experience

 

First responders are often reluctant to ask for help, but it's essential to their recovery. Being there for them and helping them with the process is often the best thing you can do.
